Are you a staff member concerned about a student’s well-being?

Sometimes staff may have concerns about a particular student, and can request our assistance to reach out to them. This is called a “Wellness Check”. Typical reasons for requesting a Wellness Check include:

  • Concern that a student is showing signs of deteriorating mental or physical health.
  • Observing some type of unique circumstance that has caused a rapid deterioration in the student’s academic performance.

Do you think the student is at imminent risk of danger to self or another person (family, fellow student, College Administration, police or medical authorities)? If this student is currently experiencing an emergency/crisis or requires immediate assistance/intervention, please call 911 and then Campus Security at 905-735-2211 ext. 6999. HWAS is not an emergency crisis service.
